A soothing elixir to quiet the senses and embrace the night.

Ayurvedic moon milk is a comforting, warm, spiced milk traditionally enjoyed in the evening to calm the mind, nourish the body, and support restful sleep. Drinking moon milk is more than just about the ingredients ~ it’s about ritual and rhythm. Taking the time to prepare and sip it slowly before bed helps signal to the body and mind that it’s time to transition into rest.

In Ayurveda, this simple practice is a way of aligning with lunar, nurturing energy ~ hence the name moon milk.

Here is a beautiful version to sip on in the evening that will offer you some revitalizing support. This concoction will help coax your nervous system down a few notches with the help of the enchanting nervine butterfly blue pea and mild sedative nutmeg to lull you into a rejuvenative and restorative sleep.

Adaptogenic herbs like ashwagandha and shatavari offer support to reduce stress and balance cortisol levels in the body, while the remaining spices are there to support digestion. As always, everyone is unique and therefore will need a little different recipe, so please see my notes on how to cater to your dosha.

If you'd like to see the medicinal properties of each ingredient and how they come together synergistically to provide a gentle elixir and a sattvic offering that nourishes the soul and invites the serenity of deep sleep, see my previous Moon Milk article here.

As you sip, chant in your mind, "With each sip, I soften into sleep".

I wish for you the sweetest dreams.
