Lung Support Tea

Wildfire smoke has become increasingly common over the last few years and is therefore yet another crisis to add to our list of modern health hazards. No matter where you are in the world, this problem seems to touch all of us at some time or another. In addition to the fires, the abundance of environmental pollutants has significantly diminished the quality of our air on a regular basis.

As usual, we can call on our plant allies for help. Here is a wonderfully healing remedy to strengthen and support your lungs when the air is less than ideal.

This tea will help soothe the mucous membranes and clear out the lungs.🌿

2 - 3 Tbsp fresh Thyme (1 - 1.5 Tbsp if dried)

1 tsp Peppermint leaf (dried)

1 tsp Licorice root (dried)

Boil a quart of hot water.

Pour over the herbs, cover, and let steep for 10 minutes.

Strain.

Stir in honey when it's cooled down to warm.

THYME is a natural expectorant helping expel mucus from the lungs. It's also anti-inflammatory & antiseptic.

The aromatic oils in PEPPERMINT make it fantastic for respiratory health ~ menthol is a natural decongestant & it helps shrink swollen membranes in the nose making it easier to breathe.

LICORICE ROOT is demulcent, having a soothing, cooling & protective effect on the mucous membranes. It's also a natural expectorant, anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial.

HONEY adds extra oomph to this healing remedy. It has a scraping quality that breaks up mucus, it reduces inflammation & has antibacterial properties.
