Ground Yourself - Go Earthing

Updated: Jun 23, 2021

Take off your shoes and step outside - plant your bare feet directly on the Earth. The benefits are astounding! How can something this simple, be so powerful. Have we forgotten? We are made of the Earth, the Earth is us.

With all the gadgets surrounding us 24/7 these days, and synthetic materials covering our bodies and feet, it has become even more important to connect our electrical body to Mother Earth. Putting your two bare feet on the ground transfers the Earth’s electrons into the conductive human body realigning your electrical energy and thereby stabilizing your physiology at the deepest levels.

This act of putting your bare feet on the ground is called Earthing today and many clinical studies have been conducted and presently many more are still going on.

The findings show that one of the most profound benefits of Earthing is the pain relief it brings due to its anti-inflammatory effect. Besides the pain relief it offers, the anti-inflammatory effect is of great importance because we understand today that chronic inflammation is the cause of many modern health conditions like Diabetes, Heart disease, Cancer, Arthritis and bowel diseases like Crohn’s and Ulcerative Colitis.

Some other benefits include better sleep, a shift from the sympathetic (fight or flight) to the parasympathetic (rest & digest) nervous system, and a blood-thinning effect that greatly reduces cardiovascular risk. In fact, there are so many positive benefits from Earthing. You can see this in the diagram below.

Research on Earthing suggests that the Earth’s electric charge plays a governing and nurturing role for both the animal and plant kingdoms – a form of “electric nutrition,” so to speak. Earthing restores and maintains a natural internal electrical environment.

I have had a deep connection with the Native American culture since I was a little girl. I always admired their relationship with the Earth and often look to their culture for wisdom of living in harmony with our environment. They understood the concept of Earthing long before the modern world came along, so I leave you with this quote from Luther Standing Bear of the Olglala Lakota tribe.

The old people came literally to love the soil and they sat or reclined on the ground with a feeling of being close to a mothering power. It was good for the skin to touch the earth and the old people liked to remove their moccasins and walk with bare feet on the sacred earth. Their tipis were built upon the earth and their altars were made of earth. The birds that flew into the air came to rest upon the earth and it was the final abiding place of all things that lived and grew. The soil was soothing, strengthening, cleansing and healing.

Put your bare feet on the Earth for some time every single day. Realign your electrical energy. Earth is our Mother, and she will always fill our well.
